Meet our FBC Fairview Heights Team!
Scott Douglas - Lead Pastor
Scott started his ministry at FBC in October 2022, after serving churches in Florida, Kentucky, and Tennessee. He is married to Carrie, and they have two boys: Samuel (12) and Grayson (9). Scott is a graduate of the University of Louisville (Go Cards!) and The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (M.Div., Ed.D.). In addition to his duties at FBC, Scott serves as an adjunct professor, and has published on church staff dynamics and ministry leadership. His passion is to make disciples, cast vision, and cultivate a missions culture. He and Carrie are always looking for new places to explore and fun places to eat. He writes regularly at Developing Leaders & Leaving a Legacy. |
David Linnell - Worship Director
David and his wife Sheri joined FBC in 2013 after serving in churches in music ministry for years. They are both native Californians and met while serving in the music ministry at Saddleback Church in Southern California. They have been married for over 30 years and have two children: Adam and Andrea and a fur baby named Flynn. They're also the (very) proud grandparents of Aiden. David loves to be outdoors and has yet to meet a fish he doesn't want to catch. Sheri loves that David cleans the fish. |

Kayla Dempsey - Director of Child Development Center
Kayla joined the team in the fall of 2015. She has been working with children since she was an adolescent and has a bachelor’s degree in education and a master’s degree that specializes in child development. During graduate school, Kayla spent much more time with preschoolers specifically through a supervisory, external graduate assistant position at an area church. Post graduate school, she worked for as a counselor in the foster care system which included teaching parenting classes, compiling a life skills curriculum, counseling biological parents, and using play therapy with foster children. While in this position, it weighed heavily on her heart that her clients needed Jesus, and her work position limited what she was able to share with them. Sometime later, Kayla felt called to the position of CDC Director which combined two of her great passions--Jesus and kids. |
